Barbie turned 54 this past weekend. A few years ago (okay, many years ago), a friend sent me a series of retro postcards featuring the famous barbie dolls. They are a great sample of humour postcards.
Humour postcards aren’t about a place, instead they feature a visual joke – usually in comic format. (Although there are travel postcards that feature a joke about a place.)

“Dear Glen,
I saw this post-card and thought of you. Why? I’m not quite sure. It’s hard to realize that I’m back in Halifax. I’m having a little trouble getting down to work. Oh well. How’s it feel to be in the last month of your high-school career? It’ll soon be over. Enjoy it while you can (ha! ha!).”
I still get a bunch of travel postcards, but with the dying out of print letter-writing the humour postcard is rare nowadays. Feel free to send me some though…
