I was shopping recently at the downtown Toronto Hudson Bay company’s Drake General Store. It’s an awesome store within a store with an electric assortment of quirky, fun products such as retro kitsch, locally produced arts and crafts, and Canadiana.
I loved the store even more when I noticed they had an awesome collection of postcards. Such as these two:
Here’s the back of one of this one:
I noticed the name CanadianCultureThing.com on the back. I figured it was the name of the printer, but I decided to check out their website.
I was delighted to learn that it is actually a project designed to celebrate Canadian culture through their blog and products.
Here is their goal as stated on their website:
CanadianCultureThing set out to explain visually what Canada was and is. We wanted to remind Canadians how amazing we are as a people….We wanted to do something interesting and historically important. We wanted to produce everything we made in Canada (it seemed kind of weird to produce the CanadianCultureThing in another country). And lastly, it had to be cool.
They produce an incredible line of Canadiana postcards both repros of old postcards and from old magazines and advertisements. They sell them online so check them out.
There were so many postcards they sell that I wanted that I had to reign myself in. But I’ve been fairly good this year so hope Santa brings me some of their postcards.
