Winter in Toronto this year has been mild (unlike my former home in sub and fully artic Edmonton). Nonetheless, it would be great this time of year to escape to greener scenery. Say, Cape Verde (a.k.a. Cabo Verde), for example.
Okay, I don’t really know anything about Cape Verde, other than it has amazing beaches. I’m not normally a person who likes to go places just to lounge on a beach. But considering how cooped up I am due to the pandemic and winter, great beaches definitely qualifies a place as one of my dream destinations.
Check out the beautiful beach as seen in this postcard specimen:
I love visiting and having postcards from small, off-the-beaten-path countries. But I also love this postcard as it is particularly fine example of a postcard collage. It’s even in the form of the island’s shape – I don’t think I have any others in my collection like this!
Here is the flip side:
“Vista ilha do Sal – View of the island of Sal”
“Hola from Cape Verde. It’s very lunar landscape here, with no high land or seeming natural vegetation, but the people are very friendly.”
I checked out images of Cape Verde, and “lunar landscape” seems accurate. The beaches appear among the most beautiful in the world. Definitely would be a dream to go there (or anywhere other than my bedroom and living room – but still yeah, I’d love to go there).
