Thanks to online Black Friday specials, I’m pretty much done my Christmas shopping as of today. In addition to some great deals, I’m happy that I don’t have to do any more shopping as I really hate it any time of the year but particularly this time of year.
So Black Friday is a definitely an occasion to celebrate:
These all-black “by night” style postcards were funny the first time I saw it about 30 years ago. But they have become an international staple of postcard design. There so ubiquitous that I was contacted by a collector who collects just these types of postcards.
Here’s the backside of the postcard:
“Grusse aus Wien / Greetings from Vienna”
“Hi! We are having fun here in Vienna. It is really lovely city as you see on the picture (ha ha). We were waiting for you coming to Germany and visit us. Hopefully we’ll meet soon again. Viele Grusse.”
A post about Vienna, Austria from a Torontonian is also timely as today it was announced that Vienna is the most reputable city in the world. Toronto was #2 on the list last year but has dropped off the top 25 (no doubt to our former drug-addled mayor).
If we had to lose to any city, I’m glad it’s Vienna as it is my favourite city in the world – even if there night life is a bit too dark.
