As I’ve been working on the pages about postcards (above), I realized I don’t have a sample of a cut-through postcard. Cut-through are a type of gimmick (or novelty) that has a shape cut through the postcards. Until a few years ago, I didn’t see them but now I have a few, but this one is my favourite:
I got this postcard when I was on holidays in Saint Martin. The design isn’t special, but the lips cut through sure caught my toddler daughter’s attention. She loved holding it up to her mouth and kissing through it.
We started a tradition on family vacations of my kid drawing a picture of her trip and then we mail it to ourselves. So here’s her pictures of her favourite things about the trip – the sun and a “spooky old tree at our hotel”.
