Almost all the postcards I have ever received have been of the travel sort. That is, postcards sent when someone is on vacation. Greeting postcards used to be quite popular in the first decades of the 1900s. They seemed to have been replaced by greeting cards (no doubt, so that the card companies could charge more).
But some greeting postcards are still out there, such as this amazing recent arrival:
Here is the backside:
“Did I get this in Brighton? Don’t remember, in any case I thought it was appropriate.”
It is definitely appropriate! I have an unending desire for sleep and ability to sleep indefinitely. Lately, it is all the more appropriate as I’ve been sick for 5 damn weeks and overwhelming tired! So this postcard was a greatly appreciated postal chicken soup.
