I was at the Disney Store on the weekend picking up something for my daughter (really, I was there for her – not for me). After completing my purchase, I was on my way out when I noticed a boxset of postcards featuring – get this… The Muppets!! If there is anything that competes with my love of postcards, it’s the Muppets (and my family too)!
I was so thrilled I had to purchase the set. It cost $10 for 18 “assorted” postcards. I took this to mean that there were 18 different postcards, but really there are three copies of six different postcards.
I’ll post the others some other day, but this one is my favourite and it’s timely considering the ongoing winter Olympics in Russia.
I never imagined the benevolent frog of my childhood as a Big Brother figure, but those huge googly eyes do seem all-seeing, all-knowing. The buildings in this postcard look just like the inflatables the Russians had in the Olympic opening ceremony too.
The backside is blank except for a logo of “The Muppets Most Wanted” the movie these postcards were made to promote. There is no caption or any design elements – rather disappointing actually.
Still, it’s the Muppets and postcards so I’m happy.
Update, Feb. 12: I was informed that this image is not of Kermit, but of his evil lookalike (hence the mole).
