We’ve had a crappy winter this year in Toronto. Earlier this week we had 25 centimeters fall in a few hours and we’ve had much lower than normal temperatures and a couple bad ice-storms that caused a lot of power outages.
So here’s a fitting postcard, of the could not have said it better sort.
I’m not exactly what is meant by the caption “No North Pole for mine!”? They definitely had odd wording back in 1909. But I think the sentiment is clear I’m sick of this arctic weather freezing my bum off!
I will go on record that as sick as I am of this winter, I still love it compared to summer. I hate summer much more! I need to move to a temperatre climate, clearly – which Toronto is decidedly not, as temperatures can range from -30 degrees Celsius (with windchill) to 30 (with humidex).
Here’s the back side that has nothing to do with winter. It was received by my great-grandfather in 1910.
“Stratford 9, 1910
Received cards o.k. alright. I’ll meet you at the station. Did you say you were going to spend the day here. You might as well. Colin.”
