It feels like -25 degrees Celsius here in Toronto. It’s been exceptionally cold and icy here for much of the last two months. We’ve been cooped up in the house trying to stay warm (even our furnace can’t take the endless cold and has almost given up) for weeks.
It’s conditions like this that make me yearn for tropical destinations. Like Anguilla in the Caribbean. A few years ago, my family and I escaped winter’s horrors there. We sent this postcard to ourselves – now a reminder that of warmer, livelier times:
The postcards in Anguilla weren’t the best (neither was the food), but the beach at Shoal Bay was the best I’ve encountered in the world. The ocean was warm, azure and gentle, the sand talcum powder soft, and the weather was sublime! My daughter drew a picture of our amazing day at the beach on the flip side:
I’m not actually much of a beach vacationer. But after the crappy winter we’ve had here, I’d greatly appreciate being able to frolic in the sun and ocean again, as we did in Anguilla:
