On this day in 1976, Sylvester Stallone’s movie Rocky premièred. I admit I have never seen the original Rocky – I did see Rocky III and IV (I loved the Cold War drama). I love postcards and movies so I was excited to receive this:
I have never been to Philadelphia, but if I do I definitely want to run (well, walk briskly) up the steps of the Museum and see Rocky statue.
“Rocky was the winner of the Oscar for the best picture in 1977. In the second of the sequels, Rocky is honored atop the art museum steps where used to race in the early morning hours. The statue now stands at the foot of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.”
“I have never sate through an entire Rocky movie so didn’t feel the need to run up the steps! Controversial that this is even at the Museum of Art!”
Of course it should be at the museum of art – cinema is the greatest art form today. And even Hollywood gets it right sometimes.
