Google’s doodle for today alerted me that today is Children’s Day. Considering how spoiled my kid is, Id say that every day is children’s day. But in honour of all the joy, fun, love, and laughter she brings into my life, I will happily honour this day.
Below is a postcard she sent to family members from our trip a couple years to Whistler, British Columbia. Whistler is a beautiful village in the Rocky Mountains. It was the site of the mountain events for the 2010 winter Olympics.
The Vancouver Olympics had lots of mascots (forget just the usual 1 or 2 ) all very cute and entrancing to my daughter. (Okay, I also loved Quatchi, the sasquatch mascot – and Mukmuk the marmot was pretty adorable too). Miga picture here is a “sea-bear” – half orca and half bear. Here is Miga’s back side:
“Miga. Vancouver 2010 Olympic Mascot.”
“It was fun onthe mountain. I had chocolate gelator. There is a nice playground. XOXXOXOOO. Love x.”
Her picture is of Mukmuk, the marmot Olympic mascot.
In honour of Children’s Day, remember to take time to have fun and play!
