Today, is Día de los muertos, the Day of the Dead.
After pigging out on Halloween candy that didn’t get handed out to the kids (for some reason??), I feel gravely ill.
But not as bad as this person, though:
Oddly enough, I don’t have many postcards depicting dead people or death. This is probably it. Very melodramatic though.
Here’s the back:
“George Frederic Watts (1817 to 1904)
Found Drowned 1848-1850
The Watts Gallery, Compton, Guildford, Surrey
This Card is Sponsored by Compton Little Theatre”
“Had a busy day today, my mother and sister have come for 2 weeks and I learned that my uncle’s war grave is fairly near our house se we visited the War Cemetery at Brookwood – the largest in the UK. It was very nice, nice grounds. Then we went to pick up some photos I had taken of the girls and it was beside the Watts Gallery, so we went. He was very morbid, reminded me of your youth. The we visited a chapel designed by his wife in super cool cemetery – fantastic.”
What a perfect what to celebrate Day of the Dead!
