Today is the 104th anniversary of the founding of Ontario Provincial Police. I’ve never been arrested, but I have got to see the inside of their headquarters in Orillia, Ontario. They have an interesting and free museum there. They also has a gift shop that sells shotglasses with the O.P.P. insignia – which I’m not sure is the right image for them to project (so of course I had to buy several).
But the had even better loot than shotglasses, they had lots of cool, FREE, postcards. Such as this:
This is clearly an old image – things have changed a lot in Ontario since this photo was taken. Ontario’s cattle now have their own crossing guards.
The O.P.P. Museum is a well worth a visit – they’re Arresting Images exhibit of old mug shots is excellent (you can check it out online too).
