Tonight is Nuit Blanche in Toronto – an all-night, public art festival. throughout the city. I’ve been going since the festival opened a few years ago as it is one of the best festivals in Toronto.
In honour of art in the city, here’s a postcard from another city not often associated with fine arts:
This postcard is from Buffalo – from their Albright-Knox Art Gallery. It reminds me of Rothko and colour field art (which the Knox has fine examples of). But I believe the postcard is a contemporary and generic piece made from a German postcard company. But I have heard the Albright-Knox Gallery is incredible. I’m dying to go some day but haven’t yet had an occasion to shuffle off to Buffalo for a weekend to see it.
The postcard is extra cool in that it is 3D (although it, as with many 3D cards, got badly scratched when they go through the postal system).
[translated from German] “…with a slightly different cards”
“Hey Glen. Picking up folks at the airport but came down to Buffalo the night before. Great modern art gallery here – the Albright Knox. Thought their postcards here cool. See you soon.”
