After a difficult past year, today is a big day for me and this postcard says it best:
The banner in the postcards says either No or Don’t “Return to the Days of Hesitation and Stagnation”. I would like such a parade for myself for just such an occasion.
The back of the postcard has no caption or message to help explain the parade or its location – so its a mystery. Another of the banners says “God Save the King” (George V?). There’s a flag that looks like it could be either the old Canadian flag or Ontario’s flag (or frankly any number of British colonies). The reverse side of the postcard asks for one-cent stamp. I inherited this postcard from my great-grandfather. So putting this all together, I believe this is probably some sort of parade in Canada – probably Ontario – related to World War One.
Regardless, I am all for celebrating no return to the days of hesitation and stagnation!
UPDATE: June 18, 2019
I received a message from D. Bender that the location of the postcard is from Clinton, Ontario. That would make sense as my great-grandfather (whose postcard this is) and his family are from Clinton.
