We’ve been getting great weather here in Toronto lately, so we’ve been enjoying the great outdoors more. Much like these people:
Granted, the people are Swedes (or more specifically Sami) rather than Canadians (although parts of Scandinavia do look a lot like Canada – as this place does) . The people on the postcard are also wearing a great deal more official looking clothes than we wear here when picnicking, hiking, or otherwise enjoying nature. Personally, the hat on the man is definitely something that would mar my enjoyment.
The reverse side indicates that these are Sami people (the term Lapps is derogatory) apparently “taking a pause form the days work”.
“Lapps taking a pause from the days work”
“Hello Marion. Took a launch trip around the inner archipelago of the Stockholm area, lots of boats and visited the church where all the Kings and Queens of Sweden are buried a very eerie looking place as they date back to around 1200 in vintage. All the best. ‘Mailed North of the Artic Circle’ ”
I have no idea where I got this postcard, but it is definitely one of the more interesting items.
