My daughter came into my office while I was working on a post for this blog. She’s very keen on this blog and wanted me to blog about her postcard collection. As she had already picked her favourite for me to post, she wanted me to pick my favourite one from her collection to post here.
There were many great ones to choose from, but this is my fav:
We got this postcard during our trip this past summer to Prince Edward Island (PEI). The cows pictures are from Cows ice cream – a famous PEI company. My daughter loved the playful cows pictures & merchandise in the stores as much as their ice cream.
Here’s the reverse side. I love the “Anne of Green Gables” cancellation and the Franklin the turtle stamp.
Message text:
“I love PEI! I saw a fox. Cows is the best ice cream! I went to a beach. I went to a potato museum and theme park. I went to a bottle hous(e). I’m having fun.
[Mini picture of potato] Happy potato.”
Postcard caption:
“Known simply as ‘The Island’ this gentle have provides a paradise of long, uncrowded, sandy beaches, red rich soil, and a lush green landscape. PEI is the birthplace of Canada and home of Anne of Green Gables.”
This is my favourite from her collection as she has followed my tradition of sending postcards to herself. Postcards are always a great memento of a trip, but it’s surprisingly easy to forget the details of a trip as the years go by. So sending yourself a postcard of your favourite experiences is a great way to preserve vacation memories.
I love how this really captures my kid’s personality and what she found significant. I had no idea that seeing a fox was such a big deal – or that she like the potato museum (that was my idea to go there – I loved it!).
Now if there was only a Cows ice cream store nearby, we could REALLY relive our experience!
