To honour the holiday of my Irish ancestors, I’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by watching the musical Once, drinking a Shamrock shake from McDees, and posting this postcard.
“Good luck to dear Old Ireland
And her sons far away from home
They’r all right wherever they are
Because they’ve kissed the Blarney Stone”
This postcard was sent to my great-grandfather from Detroit, Michigan. The message is incredibly short just “Detroit April 22 from aunt ” so it’s not for St. Patrick’s day and I have no idea what the connection is to my relative (not of Irish stock as far as I know) or to Detroit.
It’s a mystery, but a fitting tribute for St. Patrick’s Day. May the luck of the Irish be with you!
