Without a doubt the prime item in the collection is one I sent my cat from Thailand. (Yes, I send my cats postcards – it’s the best way to make sure I get it into my collection – and it lets the cats know we’re thinking of them.)
This postcard was found in Chiang Mei, Thailand at a typical tourist shop. It’s so odd in both it’s imagery and topic that it’s hard to believe it was not satire.
Without further adieu, I present the treasure of the Deltiology Deity Collection:
“Opium Garden in the Past”
The picture speaks for itself, particularly the facial expressions on the children.
I know you’d rather see fields of catnip, but this was the best we could do. Despite what you may believe, we are behaving ourselves – hope you are too!
We’ve seen lots of emaciated cats here – mangy too – so consider yourself lucky. Extra luck, in fact! Tomorrow, we’re off to Korea.”
If only they made more postcards like this jewel!
